The Auto TWA maintains a constant angle to the wind.
The boat's heading is updated every time the wind angle changes. So be very careful in areas close to low-pressure or high-pressure centers: your boat may change direction very quickly, as the wind direction changes very rapidly.
When the regulator is activated, you'll be able to see an ESTIMATE of your future trajectory on the game map. This plot allows you to project your strategy over the coming hours, but it is only indicative, and does not guarantee that your boat will follow this route EXACTLY.
The Auto TWA activation button is located to the right of your compass. It takes the form of a padlock, activated by a simple click:
- Padlock open: The button is displayed in grey, and your boat will follow the given course regardless of wind direction.
- Padlock closed: The button is displayed in blue, and your boat will follow a course at a constant windward angle.
The controller can also be activated in the heading programmer, in which case operation is exactly the same in each programming screen.
⚠️For coastal navigation, the use of waypoints is recommended, as they are more precise geographically. On the other hand, the windvane gear cannot be used when navigating with active waypoints. When sailing with waypoints activated, your boat will be on a fixed course. You will need to deactivate active waypoints if you wish to use the governor.
