Why does a mark show in red before the start?

Before a race starts, one or more course marks may appear in red on the map. That is a signal, not a fault.

What it means

The course has been updated after entries opened. The marks affected by that update are shown in red.

• Only players already registered see it.
• It lasts for the pre-start period only.

Does it affect the race?

No. As soon as the game engine starts, at the race start, those marks return to their nominal colour and behave like any other mark on the course. The rounding direction stays the one shown by the animated arrows around the mark and by the course line.

Not to be confused with

Your own waypoints are also drawn as a small red spherical buoy with a flag on top. A course mark and a personal waypoint are two different things.
